Luxury Accommodation Cairns … Where Everything is Simply Better
. Luxury accommodation Cairns and food mean different things to different people, although each experience is pleasurable in a special way. Chips and dip by candlelight on the upstairs patio, or a delicious barbecue in the garden is a good start. A burger at a waterfront diner or a meal out in a posh Cairns restaurant, which is better? We can’t possibly hope to provide a definitive answer. Our tastes are just as different as our choices. But we can tell you about some of the places we especially enjoy dining out in Cairns.
Luxury Accommodation Cairns and Our Favourite Restaurants
We have won awards for quality. This is due to our providing a level of luxury accommodation Cairns reviewers praise. More about that later. But first, let us get down to the serious business of dining out in style. Then we will close with a great recipe should you decide to eat in tonight.
The Cairns Esplanade runs parallel to the waterfront. If you cross a park there is nothing between you and South America but the Pacific Ocean rolling in. Of course, that’s not mentioning the giant cruise liners resting peacefully at anchor, and little boats heading industriously out to sea for a night fishing.
Stay with us, and you’ll have luxury accommodation Cairns and fine dining at your fingertips. There simply is no better holiday than luxuriating in the heart of one of the world’s greatest beauty spots. This would be true of Cairns even without the Great Barrier Reef on our doorstep. The glory of Wanggulay is, it is right nearby.
Cairns has great places to eat out especially along the Esplanade. Whatever your preferences you will find something to match your tastes. We have three restaurants that we try to get to once a month, including the Ochre Restaurant at Harbour Lights. Try them for local premium beef steaks from the Atherton Tableland. Their Tempura Gulf Bugs on lemongrass with green papaya salad and sweet chilli lemon myrtle may look like lobsters designed by a committee, but they are very, very good.
Luxury Dining and Luxury Accommodation Cairns
The Bayleaf Balinese Restaurant at the corner of Lake and Gatton Streets is a good place to visit for Bali food. We decorated Wanggulay with authentic Bali decor we collected personally during our visits to the Indonesian island. We love it for its signature rice paddies, densely forested volcanic mountains, coral reefs and beaches. And also its basa gede spice paste of garlic, red chili peppers, asian shallots, and spice mixes too numerous to mention.
Bayleaf Balinese Restaurant is great for sambel udang prawns with chillies, lime, and tomatoes in coconut cream. Or an ikan baligrilled fresh fish fillet in sweet & spicy chilli, tomato, and soya sauce if you want something with a different bite. They have divine kue bali assorted rice cakes to top out a perfect meal. Cairns’ cosmopolitan population ensures we cater for everybody superbly well!
Quality Cuisine and Luxury Accommodation Cairns Offers
Our third favorite is Flinders Bar and Grill at the Cairns Reef Hotel Casino. If you fancy a flutter followed by mackerel fillets – or a rib eye steak with beer battered chips and a fresh garden salad – you may need to look no further. Not that hungry? Well they have an assortment of lighter deli meals that will take your taste buds on a journey they will remember.

Let’s Catch a Barramundi Fish and Eat In, In Style Tonight
We couldn’t possibly afford to dine out in luxury every single evening. Besides, on the odd occasions we stay in Wanggulay ourselves, we find nothing more enjoyable than a barbecue in the garden by the rim pool. With myriads of stars above us, there is simply no better way to share an evening with those we love. And then retire to the super comfy beds with french doors opening out into the cooling night from every room.
But first, we need to do a spot of barra fishing to hook our meal. You will find everything you need to learn about barramundi here. If you prefer your fish pre-prepared for cooking, then Hook-a-Barra will do that for you too. Barramundi is just an Aussie word for barracuda that hang out in fresh and saltwater, or where fresh and saltwater meet in estuaries. And barramundi eating is very good, especially on a barbie.
Barramundi BBQ for Your Luxury Accommodation in Cairns
Ingredients (Based on a 1 kg fish)
For seasoning the fish: 1/4 teaspoon each of garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, lemon pepper, and sea salt.
For basting the fish: 2 cloves, chopped garlic, 1 tablespoon chopped flat leaf parsley, and 2 tablespoons butter
For seasoning the BBQ: extra virgin olive oil.
Recipe (Based on a 1 kg fish)
Prepare the fish for cooking. Heat the barbeque on high heat. While you are waiting, stir the ingredients for the seasoning together and sprinkle over the barramundi. For the basting, melt the butter in a small saucepan stirring in the garlic and parsley. Set aside when melted.
Oil the barbie grate lightly. Grill the fish for 7 minutes, then turn over and drizzle with the herb butter. Repeat the process until you can easily flake the fish. Place the fish on a hot plate and pour over the rest of the drizzle. Open and pour your favourite liquid refreshment. Drip a small amount of oil over the fish before inviting your party to tuck in. I assure you, not a scrap will go wasted in your luxury accommodation Cairns reviewers rate tops.
